Drummer Bio's

Updated 1/25/2013

  • John Doe:  Snare Drum, Drum Sergeant

Reggie RadarJohn has been playing drums since high school and joined Desert Skye in 2007. He has been a general pain in the butt ever since. Computers and technology are not his friend. If he had cancer, and email was the cure, he would surely die. I can say this because he will never figure out how to check this website and see this. John is a super hero by night and a sleeper by day. He can be seen here kissing a guy.

  • Eric Swensboe: Snare & Bass drum; Band VP, Metal worker & Artist

Eric SwensboeBesides drinking beer and drumming, Eric owns and runs www.armourinsignia.com. He makes cap badges, kilt pins and many other works of art for the Scottish uniform. He can also whistle backwards. Eric can be seen here enjoying his other favorite hobby... drinking beer!

  • Dr. Ken Misch: Drum Major, Doctor

Ken MischDr. Ken Misch is a doctor.  For children.  And babies.  He loves babies.  He is also a Drum Major which means he waves a big stick and yells a lot.  Besides marching in front of bands like Desert Skye and the L.A. Scots, Ken enjoys drinking gin, smoking cigars and playing with babies, all at the same time.  Ken is a great guy to have on your side and a terrible man to have as your enemy.  He's a lot like Napoleon that way.  Did I mention he carries a big stick?

  • Ingrid Marroquin: Snare Drum, Legal Assistant

IngridIngrid Marroquin joined the pipe band world in 2009 and was originally a snare and tenor drummer for Schenectady Pipe Band in New York before moving back to Las Vegas. She started taking piano lessons at the age of four and played various percussion instruments in the La Habra High School marching band in La Habra, California. She is a legal assistant and has a B.S. in Criminal Justice Administration. In her spare time, she enjoys playing the piano, drums and reading.

  • Marcie Peterson: Bass & Tenor Drum, Mother, Massage Therapist

Marcie PetersonMarcie decided to start playing drums because both of her sons (Braiden and Zach) were in the band and she was at every event anyway, so why not! Turns out she was actually good at it. Marcies favorite things are smiling, hugging strangers and singing when she talks. She can be seen here trying to play a practice chanter for, as she would say, "funzies".

  • Zach Peterson: Snare, Missionary

Zach PetersonHey look, it's Maverick!  Oh wait, thats Zach Peterson, snare drummer extraordinaire and hunky missionary.  Zach started in the band when his brother Braiden started taking bagpipe lessons back in 2004.  He was just a little guy then but we made a man out of him.  Unfortunately ladies, he is leaving in March 2012 to become a missionary in St Louis, MO.  Handsome and caring!

Zach likes dubstep, flybys, beach volleyball and good gaming the guys in the band.  He said something about photography and unicyclying but I missed that part as I was focused on those pecs.

  • Anna Childs: Tenor, UNLV Student, Resident Hot Chick

Anna ChildsAnna is a student at UNLV and is also an avid violinist and pianist.  She loves classical music, dancing, walking through the desert and looking hot.  Her father Jim plays in Desert Skye as a piper and he threatented to cut off her college funding unless she played tenor with the band.  It worked.  She also makes Zach nervous.
  • Mark Kimpton: Snare, Professional Drummer

    Mark Kimpton

Mark J. Kimpton, drummer/percussionist, earned his Masters Degree in percussion from the University of Michigan, School of Music.  Mark has 52 years of percussionist experience, including 35 years on the Las Vegas Strip as a show drummer/percussionist.  He has worked with Siegfried and Roy and Dionne Warwick, and over 500 different stars, 75 productions and 20 Broadway shows.
He is presently owner of www.drummers-workshop.com, the most exclusive drum/percussion studio in Las Vegas offering private lessons.
Mr. Kimpton’s studio is conveniently located across from the Guitar Center, close to the intersection of Charleston and Durango.

  • Brenda Bigham: Tenor, Hair Stylist

    Brenda
I was born here in Las Vegas in 1964, graduated Valley High School in 1982, married Paul Bigham (Piper) in 1989 and am making a change of career from 17 years in the aviation insurance industry to becoming a cosmetologist.

Brenda picked up the tenor in August of 2012.  Bringing in family members to play is one of the best recruiting tools and Paul, our piper and quartermaster, did just that.

Brenda is learning quick and is great to have around!  I think that has something to do with her addiction to Fun Dip.  It's a great sugar high.

  • Michael "Red" Sarro: Bass, Architect, Guy who knows how to get things

    Michael Sarro
  • Bill Gardner: Snare, Fire Fighter

    Bill Gardner

  • George McKenna: Snare, Soccer Coach

  • Holly Clifford: Tenor,
